I grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio area and spent as much time outdoors as possible. I decided to become a veterinarian late in high school when my first horse developed a sole abscess. The intense veterinary and nursing care she needed opened my world to the wonders of medicine and the miracle of healing.
I graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. I practiced in Florida for three years where I became focused on preserving the human-animal bond. After moving to Oregon, I got my first dog, an Australian Cattle Dog, and started on the fantastic journey of training and trialing working stock dogs. I have a strong interest in canine athletes and a fondness for cantankerous kitties. Enjoying the “art” of veterinary medicine as much as the science, I treat each patient as if they were my own. I currently have four Border Collies and compete in national level sheep dog trials.
