Pia was born and grew up in the very small town of Hailuoto, Finland. After she graduated from high school, she and her friend planned a trip around the world and during their travels, Pia decided to make her permanent home in the U.S. She always had a deep love for all animals and she worked at a veterinary hospital in Corvallis. During her vacations and long weekends, she would drive over the mountains to visit Central Oregon. Ten years later, Pia decided to settle in Redmond with her partner, Jason, her Karelian Bear Dog, Katmai, and her two Dachshunds, Ruby and Tucker. In November, 2014, Pia started working at Cinder Rock as a veterinary assistant.

When Pia is not working, she enjoys the outdoor recreation available here in Central Oregon. She is an avid runner and fly fisher. She also enjoys camping and hiking.
