- Small Animal Preventative Health Care
A comprehensive physical exam is the basic tool our doctors use to evaluate your dog's health status and to help you make informed decisions about the care of your special companion. This is where preventative care begins.
As a way to emphasize preventative health care, here are a two of the special programs and services that we offer:
-puppy health care plans
-senior health care plans for dogs
- Dental Care
Dental cleaning, or prophylaxis, is essential for maintaining your dog's healthy teeth and gums. As plaque and tartar form on teeth and under gums, bacteria collect and multiply. This creates a state of poor dental hygiene that causes foul mouth odor and is reason for concern. Eventually, gum disease will develop. More serious health problems, such as heart and kidney disease, may follow. Proper dental care has its rewards. Your dog will feel better and can live a longer and healthier life.
- Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgical Services
Our doctors are all trained in soft tissue surgery such as spays, neuters and mass removals for your companion animals. In addition, our doctors are able to perform many orthopedic procedures including bone fracture and knee repairs.
- Radiology and Ultrasound
Our digital radiology and ultrasound equipment and our technical expertise enable us to take and interpret radiographs whenever and wherever needed. If further interpretation is required, the services of a veterinary radiology specialist are available.
Our endoscope, which is a long tubular fiber optic instrument with video capabilities, is useful for performing many minimally invasive techniques. For example, the endoscope has allowed us to remove objects from a patient's stomach without having to surgically open the pet's abdomen. We are discovering many applications using this device and are often able to shorten the patient's time in the hospital because it is a less invasive procedure.
- In-House Diagnostic Laboratory
For quicker diagnostic results, we are equipped with an in-house laboratory. This allows us to perform many blood, urine and cytology tests and immediately have the results.
- Small Animal Reproductive Services
Our veterinarians are interested and well trained in all aspects of reproduction. They are experienced with live cover as well as artificial insemination using both fresh chilled and frozen semen. They also routinely perform surgical implantation techniques. Our veterinarians are trained to perform emergency and scheduled caesarian sections for all dogs, large and small.
- OFA certification
All of our veterinarians are trained to perform OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America)certification, a radiographic procedure used to rate whether or not dogs are free from hip and elbow dysplasia. This certification is used before breeding.
- Microchip Identification
Microchip ID can be used on all animals of any size. It is safe and permanent. In a quick and easy procedure, a chip containing a personal 10-digit code with the owner's name, address and telephone number is inserted under the pet's skin between the shoulder blades. From this information the owners can be located and reunited with their pet.
- Chiropractic Services for Dogs
Chiropractic care for dogs has become an integral part of the holistic medical trend in both human and animal health care. Holistic therapies are designed to work with the natural ability of the body to maintain and heal itself. Canine chiropractic is a field of animal health care that focuses on the preservation and health of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system. It is not meant to replace traditional veterinary care, nor is it an alternative treatment. It is used in conjunction with excellent traditional veterinary medicine to provide a more comprehensive plan for your dog’s health care. It is used to treat soreness, pain or problems with posture and gait abnormalities. It is also helpful in alleviating pain in the back and the neck of the dog.
