Customer Service Representative

First and last impressions of our clinic are made in the front office.  Clients are often anxious about their pets when they arrive, and there is no greater skill that we expect of our customer service representatives than to be welcoming, friendly, attentive and genuinely concerned about our clients and their animals, even when the phone is ringing and the office is very busy.

Our customer service representatives must be able to put a client at ease in order to gain trust so that information about a pet’s condition can be communicated with the doctors and staff.

Some of the responsibilities of the customer service representatives at our front office are to keep clients’ wait time to a minimum and to input and update all client information into our computer program. The customer service representatives handle telephone calls in a timely and professional manner and schedule all appointments including surgeries and boarding. They prepare all documents appropriate for appointments including maintaining and scanning medical records, emailing and faxing requested medical records, requesting records from other veterinary clinics, and performing opening and closing procedures.

Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant

The primary responsibility of the veterinary technician and the veterinary assistant is to assist our Doctors with tasks that need to be done during the examinations and the treatment of our patients.  Our veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants are professional, detail oriented, well-organized, and able to multi task – all are important attributes in our fast-paced practice.  And like everyone at Cinder Rock, they are compassionate, service oriented, team players and able to communicate well.

Some of the specific responsibilities of the veterinary technicians and the veterinary assistants are to take and record history during exams.  They complete write-ups of medical records and they restrain patients during the exam and treatments.  In addition, they take radiographs, prepare patients for surgery, they place catheters, monitor patients under anesthesia, and assist with dental procedures.  They record controlled drugs, give vaccines, and complete treatments for patients as prescribed by the Doctor. They make follow-up phone calls, schedule appointments, complete lab tests (U/A, blood tests, etc.) and take blood and urine samples.

Kennel Staff

The primary purpose of the kennel staff is to provide excellent care and attention to the animals being boarded, treated or hospitalized at Cinder Rock Veterinary Clinic.  Our kennel attendants must be independent workers, detail oriented, and be able to multi task. They must be observant, compassionate and be good communicators.  They also need to be service-oriented, scrupulous about cleanliness, and be a team player.  The secondary duty of the kennel attendant is to keep the appearance of the entire hospital immaculate.

Some of the specific tasks of the kennel staff include feeding and watering our boarders and hospitalized animals according to schedule, and providing outdoor exercise multiple times daily.  They administer medications to the animals that need them and record treatments in the patients’ medical records. They monitor all animals for signs of illness or discomfort.  They clean and sanitize kennels and cages.  They admit and release boarding animals.  They wash, dry, fold and put away all clinic laundry and keep water and food bowls clean.  They empty clinic trash and perform cleaning, mopping, vacuuming of entire clinic daily.     The kennel staff positions often require using strength to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds, and may be required as needed to help the doctors and technicians by holding large or active patients.  Some tasks need to be performed in a bent position and other tasks involve walking and/or standing for long periods of time.
